parents' visit

My parents came to visit last week. It was nice to see them and show them around where I work and live. The first whole day was a day around town.

This is them at Petroglyph Beach.

The view from Mt. Dewey.

Wrangell museum.

At Pat's Lake.

The second was my mother's birthday. We hiked and looked around at Pat Creek and Lake.

My mom at Pat Creek.

My dad at Pat Creek.

My parents following the trail.

My drink at the restaurant.

After going out for dinner at one of the best restaurants here, we went to the shooting range to shoot Ryan's shotgun. I was nervous about shooting the gun. You can see about how well it went by the picture below.

Needless to say, I did not shoot any clay pidgeons. I did get away with a bit of a bruise, though. Wednesday we traveled to a nearby island where a friend of Ryan and I picked us up. We spent the day wandering, shopping and eating. It is neat to see other cities in the area. On Thursday, we hiked up part of Rainbow Falls. and took it easy the rest of the day. For dinner, we grilled at City Park. Friday was back to work for me, so I saw them off at the airport in the evening. It was a good amount of visiting and I look forward to seeing them again in the fall when we are there for a wedding. You can see other photos from their time with us here.

It was another gorgeous day (after raining all day yesterday) and Ryan and I went out to shoot photos in the Pat Lake/Pat Creek area. This is Ryan on the water, across the street from Pat Creek.

To get to that point, we had to climb over this plant life, shells and rocks. Good thing we both have xTraTufs and Bogs.

This is a wider view of that area.

We also hiked over the creek area and stepped into the water to take some photos. Here is Ryan and his tripod.

Ryan is setting up for a shot, mid-stream.

It's days like this where I don't want to see the end to living here. The weather is beautiful, there are plenty of outdoorsy things to do, and one can just relax inside on a rainy day. I am so glad that I moved here.
